FOX has published their list of season premiere dates, and House leads off on Monday, September 20th.

Hugh Laurie earned another nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in A Drama Series, and the episode “Epic Fail” was nominated for Sound Editing, and “Brave Heart” for Stunt Coordination.

Season 6 DVD/Blu-ray Release August 31

Oh, yes! House will be on Blu-ray as well as DVD!

Both versions will be packed with plenty of features, like an exclusive short related to Broken. But the Blu-ray content may be the coolest: How about “A Beginner’s Guide to Diagnostic Medicine?” And then there’s the component (works with many mobile phone platforms such as iPhone/iPad, blackbarry, Android and Windows and Mac computers) to operate your player and access exclusive content.

Sounds wonderful.

The release date is set for August 31. Pricing $59.98 for DVD and $74.98 for Blu-ray.

Season Finale Shot Entirely on a DSLR

According to several sources (one here at Engadget – and of course, it was on Twitter) the season finale was shot using a Canon 5D Mark II. Apparently this episode was set in a lot of tight spaces – places where traditional video gear would have crowded out the sets.

At a retail price of $2500, this is no low-end consumer digicam, but it’s dirt cheap compared to pro HD gear.

Of course, consumer HD gear is coming way down in price. As a photographer (who wishes she had $2500 to drop on a new camera), this type of thing fascinates me to no end. And I’m glad the folks on our favorite show were tech-forward enough to try this. The results should be interesting to watch.
